Shout Outs
- P. McCall for filling in admirably during Jody Pittman's absence. More has been asked of her. Her work is greatly appreciated.
- J. Reid, M. Reid, M. Newmyer, M. Ridgeway, B. Lester, and S. Somerall for helping us to reflect on winter MAP testing successes and challenges. Their feedback will lead to an even more efficient process for planning and executing Spring 2018 MAP testing.
- A. Umberger, 5th grade teachers, science fair mentors, grade level judges/outside judges, custodial staff, front office staff, and T. Guerkink for their respective roles in the success of our environmental science fair. This process truly entailed several of our school beliefs.
- C. Walker for hosting a writing celebration. Families were invited to listen to 1st grade grade stories and to provide specific written feedback and commendations to these authors.
- S. Beckman, M. Reid, J. Reid, M. Newmyer and others for their respective contributions to our most recent Fox Fun Friday. If there is anyone I omitted please let me know and this will be updated.
- M. Creech's small teachers for leading Friday's learning celebration. Audience members learned about maps, MLK, and inspired through a powerful and thought provoking song by Mandisa entitled, "Bleed the Same."
- A shout out to one of our dad's who shared the following written feedback from Friday's learning celebration: "I have always enjoyed and respected the schools stance and views on hard topics that should be taught at a young age. I also totally agree that we even as grown ups can learn from the next generation.”

USC Senior Seminar
DFES will be the host site for a USC senior seminar. We are anticipating having 25 interns on campus. Roughly at 3:30 there will be a panel organized by the DFES student interns where they will ask current teachers and administrators questions regarding DFES's magnet program.
Once the panel ends, the three student teachers (Madison Porter, Jeremy Gains, and Stephanie Crivello), will be splitting up the 25 student teachers to give a tour of the school.
For the remainder of the seminar interns will be having discussions regarding their own personal inquiry questions within the classroom.
