Community Recycling Program

UPDATE: 3 out of 5 of our shoe boxes are filled!! We only need 70 more pounds of shoes!

Franconia Elementary is teaming up with "Community Recycling" to recycle your gently used shoes for reuse in over 50 countries around the world. From South America and Africa to right here in the United States.

We will be accepting Mens, Womens and Kids sizes of the following: Sneakers, Soccer Cleats (no metal), Casual, Sandals, Work Boots, Flats & Loafers

PLEASE NO heels, metal cleats, snow boots or flip flops.

Your shoes could even find their “Sole Mate”. If you want to write a “Sole Mate Note” to include with your shoes you could connect with people and places around the globe. You can let the shoes new owner know about where they came from and what they were used for or even any special memories attached to them. In return, they can write back and we can make a Sole Mate connection. It’s easy to do, just follow the link below to log in, create a special message, print and attach to your shoes/shoelaces before you bring them in.

So start cleaning out your closets and start looking under your bed for those gently used shoes. Every pair you recycle means extra funds for Franconia, less landfill waste and the potential to connect to your Sole Mate.

Five collection boxes will be at Franconia Elementary and available to fill through December and again in January. Our goal is to donate at least 200 pairs of shoes!

Holiday Toy Drive

Franconia's Student Council has organized a toy drive to benefit an inner city school in Philadelphia. If you are able to donate a new, unwrapped toy, you may do so until this Friday, December 15th. Donations can be dropped off in the office by a student or a parent. Thank you for making the holidays a little brighter for children in need.
