Farragut Weekly Updates - 9/30/17
From the desk of Principal Ngo
Dear Farragut Foxes,
Fall is in the air! October is one of the most exciting times of the year. It is also the time of year where schools take a look at safety and school climate. With so many Fall events and opportunities to come together as a community, take this time to think about how your family is staying safe. What routines and daily reminders keep your kids safe? What safety plans do you have at home in case of an emergency? Taking the time to be proactive and having a plan in place keeps everyone safe.
At Farragut, our staff is reviewing our own emergency preparedness practices and protocols, creating committees to review school climate, and monitoring the processes that keep our school community safe. From check-in and check-out procedures, volunteer guidelines, and school-wide rules to earthquake drills, safety committees, and first aide training, we take safety very seriously at Farragut!
Take this month to review what helps keep your family safe. Together as a community, these discussions help us plan, prepare, and stay proactive in case of emergency!
Have a wonderful week!
Your proud principal,
Rebecca Ngo
P.S. - I hope you like the new newsletter format!

DIRECT DONATION CAMPAIGN – It’s Never Too Late to REACH FOR THE STARS!
We are stepping aside now to make room for our Gifts & Wrap Catalog Fundraiser but you can still make a donation in our campaign and help us get closer to our goal. Envelopes will remain in the front office or you can visit farragutschoolcommunity.org to donate. We will continue to fill up the sky by adding stars for every donation. It’s never too late to HELP OUR KIDS REACH FOR THE STARS. Thank you!
MAKE THIS THE WEEK YOU JOIN THE FARRAGUT PTA
Joining the Farragut PTA sends a message to your child that school matters and that you are invested in the community where they spend most of their waking hours. Most importantly it sends the message that you are invested in your child's happiness and success!
For $8 per member/per year you are enriching their academic life through supplies, assemblies and field trips. You are building a community for them through fun family events that connect them to their school, make memories with you and bond them to their friends. If you haven't already, please send in the envelope from the Welcome Folder or fill one out in the front office. (Cash or checks to Farragut PTA gratefully accepted! Please make sure to include your fox's name and teacher).
Keep Our Campus Safe
A couple safety reminders...
No Wheels on Campus - Scoot, skate, & bike to school, but please walk your wheels once you get on campus! Please help us keep our kids safe and follow our no wheels on campus rule.
Loading zone – Please remember that the front of the school is a loading zone for drop off and pick up. Please make sure to keep your car moving, so we don’t put students in precarious situations and exiting cars in the middle of the street.
Volunteer Clearance and Protocol – All parent volunteers need to have been cleared and wearing a badge when they are working with students during the school day. Even if you are staying from drop off, please take a minute to check in with Mari and get your volunteer badge. This helps us monitor who's on campus and keeps our students, staff, and volunteers safe.
