#TheRidge News
9/25/2020
Dear Catawba Ridge Families,
We had some exciting news this week with the announcement that our very own Ms. Nicole LaFave (English), was named the Fort Mill School District Teacher of the Year. Ms. LaFave was selected by our staff in February as CRHS Teacher of the Year, went on to become a District Honor Roll Teacher, and now...Teacher of the Year! With this honor, Ms. LaFave will lead some important district events and initiatives. She also received a 1 year lease for a shiny new Dodge Challenger - how about that? Hip!Hip!
Fall sports continue this evening with our 1st Varsity Football game of the season at South Pointe High. Our teams are competing well - tennis is currently undefeated and leads our division. Pretty awesome! We're proud of all of our teams, and are especially excited to see our seniors celebrated on Senior Nights (swim seniors are featured in this newsletter).
We are working on ways for our students to connect on campus. Opportunities to gather are limited by our current circumstances, by our teachers and club sponsors are creative and resourceful, and they are making things happen. Club Rush will be the week of October 5th. More info coming soon on that.
Lastly, here is a look back at the 2019-20 school year in the SIC Report to Parents.

The counseling office is proud to announce our 1st Senior event: College Application Day 9/28. This year, College Application Day is a virtual event that students can participate in during the evening. This event helps our students solidify their next steps after graduation and guides them through the college application process.
Colleges around South Carolina are participating with a video promoting their college and explaining the steps to apply. They will also be talking about their test optional policies and how this impacts our students.
Several colleges also give our students fee waiver codes to submit their college applications for free on this date. Guidance will send info via email on Monday on how to join the event.
