Upton Update

Week of May 16, 2016

Google Calendar

The District is using a new calendar platform. We are moving to Google Calendar. If you click on the calendar you have two options under Upton: Upton Building and Upton Facility.

Upton Building would be all the times of events that are for our school. Most parents will use this calendar. If you rent the facilities (Ex: Boy Scout, Girl Scout, Basketball, etc.) you will want to check the Upton Facility Calendar. This would be set up times for events and outside rentals.

Rentals still follow the same procedure. You will use a building permit. Please make sure your date and time are available on both calendars. It is possible that someone has submitted a permit and it is not on the calendar. If that happens you will be notified. Always make sure your events have been placed on the calendar for rentals. If not, contact Robin Newsome (newsomer@royaloakschools.org) PRIOR to the event. Please submit the permits well in advance of the event. The permits are turned in at the building and we send them to Mrs. Newsome.

Calendar for Next School Year

2016-2017 Calendar: A calendar for the 2016-2017 school year is now available! You can view an outline of the complete calendar by clicking here. Building and program specific calendars, as well as a complete calendar for our current school year, are all available from the calendar page of our district website.

Calling in Absences

Absences must be called in to the safety check line 248-549-4968, option 1. Calling or emailing teachers does not excuse your child's absence. Sometimes the teacher may be out or not able to check his or her email in a timely fashion and the office will not get the message. Please take the time to call in your child's absence.

Students who are Sick

Just a reminder that children who are sick should remain at home. Students should be fever and symptom free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. This will help to keep any illnesses from spreading to others. Don't forget to call the office and report any absences!
