Spirit Week
In honor of the Union County Patriots' homecoming on September 29th, we will be hosting a theme of "Dancing though the Decades" next week. We are inviting all students and staff to dress up as follows:
Monday Pajama Day Please wear your favorite, school appropriate pajamas to school.
Tuesday 50's Day (poodle skirts, rolled jeans, leather jackets, etc.)
Wednesday Crazy Hair Day What can you do to make your hair stand out?
Thursday 80's Day (parachute pants, neon, big hair, etc.)
Friday Patriots' Day Wear your best Union County gear to show your support.
I cannot wait to see the creativity of my third graders during these fun and spirit-filled days!
Family Fun and Fitness Night
LES will be having its first Family Fun and Fitness Night of the 2017-2018 school year Wednesday, September 27th. This even will be from 6:00-6:30 on the high school track. Please join us for a night of fun and fitness.
Every child must be accompanied by an adult.
The high school will be celebrating homecoming week with some powder puff football following our Family Night.
Mastering the Math Facts
We now have five students who've passed both the addition and subtraction portions of math facts. Way to go! Of those five, a couple are dangerously close to passing their multiplication timed tests. How is your child progressing? Ideally, by this point in the year we would have all students at least working on their subtraction. Remember, multiplication is a new concept for third grade students, and passing these facts will likely take time. Let's make moving through those addition and subtraction facts an at-home priority. If you are looking for some new, tried and true strategies click here.
Box Tops for Education
Please continue clipping those Box Tops for Education. Our school gains a lot financially from this easy endeavor. Don't forget to tell family and friends to help your child out with this. Click here to find products with Box Tops on them, or download a complete list of participating products. Thank you for your kind assistance with this.
Next Week's Share Topic: A Sense of Fall
Even though the temperatures didn't seem as such, Friday was the first day of autumn. Using our senses, in what ways do we know that fall has arrived? What smells do we smell? What sounds do we hear? What things do we see, taste or touch?
Enclosed in this week's Friday folder, you will find the October share topic schedule. Remember...these weekly topics are not optional. Participation in the oral share topics ensures students have the skills necessary to meet the Indiana academic learning outcomes for speaking and listening.
