Arch Ready: How to Develop Your Resume from the First Year Forward

Come to this workshop and learn what you can do to build a strong resume that will get you hired come graduation day (or better yet, beforehand)!
Arch Ready: Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
Time: 4:30-6 PM
Location: MLC, Rm. 150
Your ability to interact with people who are different from you is an important skill that employers seek in employees. During this interactive session, you will learn the significance in valuing your workplace colleagues as we explore different identities and aspects of an inclusive work environment. You will learn how to use strategies and resources for addressing diversity-related issues in the workplace.

Students are strongly encouraged to wear business casual, but it is not required, if they cannot change between classes. Students are asked to sign in at the east wing entrance of the MLC Rotunda.
Arch Ready: Career Advice for First and Second Year Students

Join the UGA Career Center and a recruiter from Cortland Partners for career advice you do not want to miss. Attend this workshop to learn more about what you can be doing now to progress toward your future career. “Career” can be a scary word, and seem far from your mind. However, once you understand what most all employers are looking for in candidates, you will be able to navigate your own career development with more excitement and ease.
Grad Workshop: Successful Strategies for Searching and Networking Fall 2017

Finding an internship or job is sometimes a full-time job, and it’s not always about landing the first job. Learn about strategies, search engines, authentic network building through informational interviewing, and the power of professional associations and online profiles. See what resources are available to you for free, how to avoid the business card collecting style of networking, how to develop “elevator pitches” and have 5 minute conversation with professionals or employers in between workshops or at conferences.

The UGA Career Center is hosting The Pitch, a new networking event and competition, at the Special Collections Library next Wednesday, October 11, from 5:30-8:00 pm. This event is based off of NBCs “The Voice,” in which student finalists will deliver their elevator pitch to the audience, including 3 employer judges, who will spin around if they like what they hear!
While the deadline has passed to apply, we invite you to attend for the chance to cheer on our finalists, and gain your own networking opportunity! It will be a fun, high-energy event, and we will conclude with a networking reception once all finalists have presented their pitch. Food and drinks will be served, and you will have a great chance to network with our employer judges (below), and other employers in the audience!

Start Smart Salary Negotiation Workshop

The University of Georgia Career Center will present the American Association of University Women's (AAUW) Start Smart Salary Negotiation workshop on our campus. AAUW’s Start Smart program is designed to empower women with the skills and confidence to successfully negotiate their salary and benefits packages. By learning strategies and practicing effective language, participants gain valuable skills they can use throughout their lives — well beyond their next negotiation.

Attend this workshop to hear from UGA alumni who have successfully obtained jobs in the U.S. on OPT, CPT, Academic Training, or H-1B visas. Panelists will talk about the challenges of their search as well as tips to help you better prepare for the process.
