Still have questions about COVID-19 and Franklin School?
Families will receive notification if there has been a COVID-19 positive case at Franklin Phonetic Primary School. It is imperative that families keep their contact information updated at the school. A general notice will be sent via email and phone, through the Blackboard robo-calling system. Only the families of students at our school who did have direct contact with the individual reporting a positive case will receive a notice that they will need to quarantine. All families of Franklin students may receive a notification that we have asked for one of the classrooms with primary exposure to quarantine, but those who have not come into direct contact with children of that classroom will not be required to. Parents will need to monitor for symptoms, as guided by the CDC. www.cdc.gov.
When will the school decide to close?
If all students and staff need to quarantine due to a rise in cases and/or exposure, the same notice will be sent to all families at that specific school and will include information on the length of the quarantine. Parents and families should prepare for the possibility of having to quarantine their children as a result of a classroom or entire school being directly exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual. We will not make these decisions lightly and will always caution on the side of err.
What happens if my child is quarantined?
Students' need to quarantine will be guided by the ADHS Release From Isolation Flowchart. Franklin Administrators will more than likely have students remain home for 10 days, and as long as any symptomatic students are without a fever for 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medication, before returning to school. Students will return to at- home learning. Packets will be available for pick up, with school work provided by their teacher. The teacher will be explaining in an introductory video, the tasks included in the work packet, along with directions for grading.
In cooperation with our staff, your children have helped us to minimize the need to quarantine and keep everyone safe. We have put many successful mitigation strategies in place that have led to an understanding that the safety of our students, staff and families are our top priority.
You all are deeply appreciated.
