ELM MIDDLE SCHOOL’S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
September 30, 2022
Greetings Elm Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful week. It was a busy one at Elm; our 8th graders took the PSAT and then had their Snowflake event! It was amazing to see our students engaged in learning all throughout the building this week. Ms. Berkery's class was finishing up their basketball championship; Ms. Lite's class was diving into perimeter and area; Sr. Rocha's classes were introducing their classmates and interesting facts about themselves solo en espanol.
We' are officially one month into school, and I encourage all parents to check-in with their students about their classes. Check PowerSchool, and have your students reach out to their teachers should they need extra support in their classes.
Please take a few minutes to read through this week’s Cougar Courier. As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Have a fabulous weekend! Enjoy the beautiful weather! #TeamElmStrong

Ms. Berkery's Engineering class took part in their basketball tournament this week; wherein, they designed contraptions to shoot their Ping-Pong balls into the hoop. The individual designs faced off to award the prize to the top design. It was an awesome display of project-based learning and team design. Congrats to all the participants and to Ms. Berkery for yet another awesome approach to reaching out students.

Teachers will invite 6-8 students to remain at school from 2:09pm-3:15pm to receive focused grade-level support for any subject area offered at Elm Middle School. Parent/Guardians will receive notification if their student has been invited to Cougar Connections along with their students. We are excited to offer this as an additional academic opportunity for our students.
Clubs and Extra-Curricular Activities
Goodluck to all of our Cross Country runners this week during the LNAC Invitational on Monday! A huge congratulations to our softball program for taking 2nd place in both of their games at the LNAC Tournament! Amazing season to both teams! We're so proud of you!
