The following is a true story from a Lakeville 3rd grade classroom:

The teacher introduced an assignment where the students were writing about themselves and how each child in the class is unique. They brainstormed different characteristics to write about and began their writing. One inquisitive boy ambled up to the teacher and said, "How do you spell ADHD?"

Best Practice - Students Self-Assess

Check out this 16 second video of students self-assessing their participation and engagement as they leave a PE classroom. A PE teacher in district uses this exact strategy. How might you apply this in your classroom/learning environment?


TDE Checklist - Have you. . . . .

- ...started writing your Individual Growth Plan (IGP) in your e-folio? These are based on the Charlotte Danielson domains.

- ...started writing your Student Learning Goals (SLG) in your e-folio? These are the shared, class and targeted goals.

- ...scheduled a time to meet with your administrator so that he/she can approve your IGP and your SLGs? That meeting should be completed by October 31st.

Soon, you can...

- Years 1 & 2 - ...schedule your first observation with your instructional coach. This will include pre/post conference and a reflection in your e-folio. A good rule of thumb is to try and have one of the observations completed before winter break and the second before spring break.
