High Expectations:
Every Scholar, Every Day
A Word from Principal Haynes
Greetings Parents,
This week all of our scholars will be taking Checkpoint Assessments in ELA and math so that we can see how they are progressing. As a BONUS this holiday season, we will be able to give away bicycles to our scholars. In order to be placed into a drawing for a FREE bicycle, scholars will need to get a 70% or higher on either their ELA or math Checkpoint Assessment. We will be selecting FOUR names for EACH GRADE LEVEL (2 males and 2 females) to be the lucky winners.
Additionally, scholars MUST be present and on time the day the assessment is given because time is of essence. We will select the winners on Friday, December 14th during the morning announcements and parents will need to be at the school on Monday, December 17th to receive the bikes from our sponsors with the Latinos in Action Group at Falcon Cove Middle School.
Please help by encouraging and motivating your scholar to do work hard on each assessment. I can't wait to see the fantastic results that will come in!!
Also, please remember that EVERYDAY scholars are to wear their school uniform. We have scholars coming out of uniform on Fridays. This is a violation of new safety and security rules put in place since the beginning of the school year. Repeated violations may result in the scholar receiving a referral of defiance of authority. The consequences of this is much more severe.
Let's make this another great week of High Expectations--Every Scholar--Every Day!!!
Wishing you an AMAZING and BLESSED week!!

Tournament Location is Everglades High School, 17100 SW 48th Court, Miramar, FL 33027.
Scholars will depart campus at approximately 1:00pm and will return at approximately 7:00pm. *Please be patient as there may be delays in the return time; the bus will transport scholars from 2 or 3 schools in the area.
Scholars can bring bagged/labeled snacks. Snacks will also be available to purchase for a low cost at the hosting high school.
Parents who wish to attend the event as a judge are welcome to drive to the hosting school. However, parents cannot be spectators but must attend as a judge for the event.

Field Trip Expectations
Field trips are an opportunity for us to provide scholars with exposure to many activities and events throughout the county and state. We want our scholars to participate and field trips are open to ALL scholars. That said, I need YOU in partnership with us to explain to scholars expectations regarding behavior. When teachers take scholars off campus, it is imperative that they know and understand how to LISTEN to adults and are responsible to stay with the group. The last thing I want is for a child to get lost and/or hurt on our watch. Make sure that you have conversations with your child about this.
If your child has been struggling with maintaining appropriate behavior on campus, it MAY become necessary for administration to have a conversation with you about whether or not the field trip is appropriate for your child. If you are in doubt, talk with your child's teacher about their behavior. Field trip payments are non-refundable and I don't want anyone to lose money because of their child's poor choices. Let's partner together to make sure our scholars understand the expectations of field trip participation.
