Back to School Forms!

Two forms that we need completed ASAP are the Health Consent Form and Free/Reduced Lunch Form. These were sent home with students on the first day of school. If you need a copy, please call. Please return to the office as soon as possible!

*If a student does not have a Health Consent Form, they cannot be seen by the nurse.

*Although everyone receives free breakfast and lunch, our funding for programs like our Youth Service Center is determined using free/reduced lunch records. Please return these forms asap! Thank you!

Homecoming Week Themes & Events

Homecoming Week is September 30-October 5th. All students are encouraged to dress up following these themes:

Monday Twin day: Grab a friend and wear the same/corresponding clothes!

Tuesday Tacky Tourist: Get your sun visors and fanny packs ready!

Wednesday Workout Wednesday: Dress in your favorite active wear

Thursday Western/Camo Day: Grab a camp shirt, pants and even your favorite hat!

Friday Spirit Day: Show up in our school colors! Show off the Viking Pride!!!

Wednesday, October 2nd

Miss Kentucky: 1:30-2:00 pm for all 9th graders in the PAC

Presentation of Candidates – 2:15 pm

Vote for Homecoming Queen – 6th period

Powder Puff Football (Juniors vs. Seniors) – 6:00pm

The Homecoming Football game is on Friday, October 4th beginning at 7:30pm. During halftime, we will crown the Homecoming Queen. The Homecoming Dance is on Saturday, October 5th from 7:00-10:00pm at the high school. Tickets will go on sale October 2nd-4th during lunches.

Eligibility Reminders: Students must meet Dance Participation requirements to attend. Please see the attachment below to review eligibility requirements.

Guests - Forms for out of school guests are in the front office. The form is also attached below for your convenience. Completed forms are due September 20. No middle school students or guests over 20 years of age are permitted to attend. A copy of the guests driver’s license or a signed school Infinite Campus Profile sheet must be submitted with the form. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sergent.

Senior Trip - Last Call

The last day to commit to the Senior Trip is October 1st! Please see Mrs. Gussler for more information.

Bowling Tryouts

Bowling Tryouts will be on Wednesday, October 16th at 4:30pm at MSU's Bowling Lanes int eh Laughlin Building. In order to tryout, you must have a current physical turned in to Mrs. Sergent. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sergent.

Archery Tryouts

Archery tryouts are on Wednesday, October 2nd from 3:30-6:00 in the Viking Cafe. In order to tryout, you must have a current physical.

Governor's Scholar Program

Any junior interested in applying to the Governor's Scholar Program should sign up to take the October 26th ACT. GSP requires each candidate to have an ACT, SAT or PSAT test score.


RCSHS will offer the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16th at 8:00am. If you would like to take the PSAT, please bring $8 to the guidance office to secure your spot. Upon making your payment, you will receive a practice book. You must pay to secure your spot. First come, first served.

Alive at 25

Alive at 25 will be held in Room 101 on Thursday, October 3rd from 5-9pm. See how to sign up on the bulletin board outside the guidance suite.

Thriller Dance

SGA is hosting RC's very first Halloween Dance: Thriller! Start planning your best costume now! The dance will be October 18th from 7-10pm. Multiple costume awards will be given. No masks or inappropriate costumes allowed. No out of school guests are permitted. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, October 16th during lunches. Proceeds will benefit our high school theater department.

Are You Employable Right Now?

Last week, our staff rolled out a new Employability Rubric to all students. Beginning with our 4 week progress report, each student will receive an Employability Score for each class. The score will reflect the percentage of time that astudent was respectful, responsible and ready to learn during the 4 week progress window. The rubric is listed below.

Senior Cap and Gown

Seniors if you did not order your cap and gown when you took your senior pictures, please scan the QR code in the hallway or outside the front office to do so. Or click on this link. It's easy! Just answer 7 simple questions. Camp and gown payment is $45. Please pay Mrs. Utterback in the front office.

Advanced Placement

AP Exam Fee forms and money are due to Mrs. Sergent by October 15th. Please submit your form and payment as soon as possible.

Pick Up

To ensure the safety of our campus, only students who are staying after school with a teacher or coach are permitted in the school after 3:05. All students must be off school grounds by 4:00pm unless being supervised by an adult (coach or teacher).

Free Dinner!

Back again this year, RCSHS will offer FREE dinner to any Rowan County Schools student from 3:15-4:00pm Monday through Thursday. See our breakfast, lunch and dinner menus here!

Parent Involvement Group

We need your help! We are looking for interested parents to volunteer for school activities. Anything from baking a cake to working project prom. If you are interested, please sign up for the Parent Involvement Group Remind by sending the text message @rcshspig to 81010. Thank you in advance for your help!

Student Drivers

Parking passes are available for 10th-12th grade students in the office. Please fill out your application and bring your license, proof of insurance and $30 to Mr. Wallace. Freshmen students are not eligible to drive at this time.

Kroger Community Rewards

Help us fund raise for Project Prom...all throughout the year. Sign up for Kroger Community Rewards and designate Rowan County Senior High School as your organization. Code RX947. RCSHS will earn a percentage of funds at NO COST to you and all you have to do is use your Kroger Plus Card! Thank you for your support!


The next National administration of the ACT is on October 26th.

The registration deadline is September 20th.
