Planning for 2020 Reopening
I am sure that you are aware that Dr. Cashwell, Superintendent, recommended a fully virtual plan for the first nine weeks of the 2020-2021 school year. This decision was not easy and I know firsthand that she and the School Board want what is best for our children. I am sure that this announcement comes with a mixture of parent emotions and as a working mom of 2 school-aged children, I understand! I can assure you that Team Wolverine is working to make our school opening a positive experience and that we are equipped to deliver robust instruction and social-emotional learning. Until teachers return in late August, I am providing them with bi-weekly communication that includes opportunities for summer professional development and training. Most importantly, I am encouraging our staff to be patient and positive as we continue to navigate the many facets of this unique upcoming school year. I also partner with you, our families, and ask that we continue to work together to make this a positive school year. While we can't control everything that happens, we can change our experience of those things. :)

Laptops will be distributed to rising 6th graders in mid-August. Stay tuned for updates!
Our school counseling department and admin team are working together to create a virtual orientation for our families. We are hoping to share this in a couple of weeks to allow time for families to unpack all of the information provided, ask follow-up questions, and make suggestions. We look forward to welcoming our new Wolverines!
Please review this letter from our school health department. A copy of this letter will also be mailed to the home of all 6th grade families.

Remember to update your laptop!
What: HCPS will be activating the cameras on laptops for middle and high school students.
Where: Wilder Middle School
When: Monday through Thursday, beginning June 30th until the start of school
Time: 8:30 a.m.- 12 noon and 12:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. (Takes 5-10 minutes)
Each location will practice safety precautions for COVID-19. Technical support staff will be wearing masks and practicing additional safety precautions. Each person that arrives to have their HCPS laptop serviced is requested to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. Each line will have tape on the floor about 8 feet apart to help with social distancing.
Only one individual (parent, student or guardian) should enter the school to receive service. The only thing that is needed to be brought in, to complete the work is the laptop to be reconfigured (no charger, no username/password).
The location at the school to go to for the activation of the laptop camera is Door #1 right by the office with the car rider loop. This support at each school to reconfigure secondary student laptop cameras will continue into the month of August up until the start of school.
