Kirk Fenton News

22nd February 2019

Dear Parents / Carers,

We have been enjoying the warmer weather this week by getting outside more. This week the older girls have taken part in a football competition where they came 2nd in their league. They looked very smart representing the school in their brand new kit that was purchased by the Friends of Kirk Fenton so thank you for that.

Unfortunately, we have had a couple of near misses outside school this week due to the number of cars and the way some are parked. I have been in contact with the police and have attached a letter to this news letter. I would appreciate you taking the time to read it.

For those coming to the Parent Council meeting that was arranged for 8th March, I apologise but I now need to move the meeting back a week to the 15th March at 9 am.

I hope you all have a happy and safe half term,

Mrs Karen Williams

Head Teacher

Winning Team

Congratulations this week go to the Orange Spitfires. Oliver and Leon were very proud of their team. Well done!

STAR TABLE

The following children have shown good manners and been helpful and kind in the lunch hall. They each get to choose a friend to sit at the Star Table with them on Monday after half term.

Niamh McHugh, Errol

Martha Lumb, Y6

Katie Oxberry O'Donnell, Y5

Well done

Well done to all the children who performed their dance in assembly this week. We loved watching your performance showcasing all your hard work.

If you would like to join the dance breakfast club, details will be available from the office after half term.

Girl's Football

Well done to the Y5 and Y6 girls who played in a football tournament against other schools in our sports cluster. They worked really well as a team and came second. Congratulations to Georgia, Harriette, Eloise, Lottie, Caitlin M, Alexandra, Immy, Evie S, Nicole and Edie. Thank you to parents for help with transport. Once again a big thank you to Friends for our lovely new kit.

World Book Day Thursday 7th March

The week after half term, World Book Day will be celebrated throughout the school with a series of events to raise funds. Children are bringing home a letter with details including a Sponsorship form for the World Book Day Reading Challenge... you can start collecting sponsors right away and complete your challenges over half term or any time until Friday 8th March.

Second hand books and cake sale Friday 8th March

Also to celebrate World Book Day, we will be selling second hand books and delicious cakes on Friday after school in the main playground.... we are relying on donations, so please send any spare books or yummy cakes (please, no nuts) into school Thursday/Friday with your child, and remember to bring some cash so you can browse for goodies too!

Curry Night and Bag2School

These were both a great success this week, thank you very much to everyone who got involved; we couldn't do it without you!

Wishing you all a fun and relaxing half term.
