History
The first Earth Day was in 1970. A man by the name of Gaylord Nelson. He was in the Senate and was trying to pursuade Congress to make an environmental agenda. He pursuaded the Congress and established Earth Day to be on April 22. Now more than 20 million people celebrate Earth Day every year.
Interesting Facts
Some schools and communities celebrate Earth Day for a whole week to expand the time frame that people focus on the earth and how they can preserve it.
