February Superintendent's Excellence Award Recipient
Roll out the red carpet for this month's Superintendent’s Excellence Award winner Nolan Pratt, a junior at WBHS! We are proud to honor and recognize Nolan for his outstanding achievements as a student musician and athlete.
Nolan was one of only four high school trumpet players in the state to be accepted into the All-State Jazz Ensemble. Additionally, Nolan was accepted into the MSBOA District 4 Honors Jazz Band, and he earned a Division I rating at the District 4 Solo and Ensemble Festival. Nolan will be one of only thirteen high school band students representing WBHS at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival, a testament to his incredible musicianship.
He is a natural leader, person, and role model, always demonstrating excellence and inspiring those around him to do the same. In addition to his musical pursuits, Nolan is a well-rounded athlete, balancing a rigorous academic course load with participation in three sports: cross country, track, and swimming. He is also a member of the Tri-M Honor Society. Nolan challenges himself in all areas and establishes high standards and expectations for himself, yet he always enters class with a smile, ready to learn, lead, and make a positive difference in the lives of those around him.
Nolan is truly an exceptional student, and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our school community.
Every month the Superintendent and the Board of Education will recognize one WBSD student for academic excellence. In addition, the student must be dedicated to their studies, clubs and organizations, and exhibit qualities of a role model. Students will be nominated by WBSD staff and administration each month.
February Star Certificate Recipient
Congratulations to Adonis Jamison, second-grade teacher at Gretchko Elementary! He received a Star Certificate at the Board of Education meeting for leading an interactive Mime and Movement Assembly for all second graders across the District.
Adonis modeled and taught our second graders how dance, movement, and creative expression can be healthy tools for coping with stress. Our students had a great time and left the assembly feeling energized, empowered, and in charge of their emotions!
Eye on Design with Sundberg-Ferar
The Roosevelt Huskies grades 2-5 toured Sundberg-Ferar to learn about Industrial Design! The students are working on their own designs for the Michigan Design Prize! While there, they learned about what kinds of things industrial designers make and heard from the president of the Michigan Design Council.
Congratulations to the West Bloomfield High School Jazz Ensemble on a great performance at the Black Expo Event last weekend at the Orchard Mall of West Bloomfield.
