Math Homework
Math Homework
This is your child’s first math homework. Math homework will come home most nights of the week. Usually I do not send homework on Fridays.
The colored math sheets that are torn from the math activity book are practice sheets we use during math instruction. Some might be completed by your child individually, with a partner, or as a whole group. This depends on how the lesson is taught. Don’t expect these to always be complete and they do not have to be finished for homework.
The math homework (see attached) is on the black and white sheets. I consider homework a way for your child to practice what we did at school, with support from you. Homework is not graded. Please help your child complete the homework. If there are questions or problems, please let me know and I will work on that concept or skill the next day. I don’t want the math homework to be stressful or frustrating for anyone! I do expect students to show their work (numbers and drawings) to prove their answers. This is an expectation for all math homework.
Please watch for the parent letters to come home with each new math unit. These are also colored sheets torn from the math activity book, so they might be easily confused with your child’s practice sheet for that day. I recommend keeping these math letters together so that you can refer back to them throughout the year. They may come in very handy when helping your child with the math homework. Please call or e-mail me with any questions or concerns. Thanks for your help with math this year!
