Who is Washington Irving?

Washington Irving was an author/writer in the early 19th century. Irving is best known for his short stories. He started his literary work in 1802. He became famous for his work in 1815 for "The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon". Irving was apart of the Romanticism literary movement.


This was a literary movement that started in the late 18th century in Europe. This was partially a revolt against the aristocratic social and political norms of the Age of Enlightment. This movement lasted from 1750-1870. This period in English Literature is known to have the most variety. This type of literature had the most expression and feeling to it.
