Laius
True father of Oedipus, and the one responsible for giving him up in the first place due to an ancient prophecy that predict his death at the hands to his son.
Jocasta
Mother to Oedipus and wife to Laius.
oedipus
Son of Laius, and adopted son to king Polybus. He later is known as the man who killed Laius and who then takes over as king of Thebes
sphinx
The Sphinx is known as the monster who terrorizes Thebes with its dreaded riddles. Oedipus is the only man who was able to solve this riddle and thus defeated the sphinx.
oracle of apollo
The place in which the oracle resides. The oracle who resides her is responsible for giving Laius the prophecy on Oedipus.
Corinth
The place in which Oedipus grew up. Oedipus was taken here by the servant who had orders to kill him and then raised by the king and queen.
Creon
The brother in-law to Oedipus and the messenger of Thebes.
Thebes
The birth place of Oedipus and also the place he grows to rule.
