*Cara for putting together the many pieces to prepare for a successful GMAS administration.
*A super hero salute to Mr. Dozier for helping to put together the signs for the carnival.
*Our always awesome front office team worked tirelessly this week collecting money and preparing the wristbands to be sent home.

*Welcome Andrice Turner! She will be filling in for Katherine Davis in her absence, and has been hired to be one of our Kindergarten teachers for the 2016-2017 school year.
Summer Professional Learning
There are many great learning opportunities this summer. I would like for at least one representative from each grade level to attend each workshop. Please communicate with one another and let me know who be attending the professional learning session. You will need to go to the PD&E tool to register all of the courses with the exception of Math Institute. Please let me know if you need assistance with this. Thank you so much!!
Summer Math Institute: Parsons will be hosting week #2 of Summer Math Institute for the Peachtree Ridge and Collins Hill clusters. Misty Piper will serve as our site coordinator. Week #2 will take place June 6 - June 10, 2016here at Parsons. We will be in need of Host classroom teachers, teacher participants and student participants. More information will be sent at a later date.
Digital Learning Conference: June 14, 2016 at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center. Registration is open in the PD&E tool.
Teaching and Learning Pre-Conference and Conference: Please mark your calendars for the second annual GCPS Teaching and Learning Conference! This year, the conference will take place at the ISC on Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17 from 8 AM - 4 PM at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center. Several departments will offer pre-conference sessions on Wednesday, June 15 at various locations throughout the district. More details will come in February. Registration is open in the PD&E tool.

Amanda Hartmann, Senior Advisor for
Teachers College Reading and Writing
Project will address the newest
expectations in writing instruction.
K-5 teachers, coaches, and administrators
should attend to: learn to teach opinion,
information, and narrative writing with
increasing complexity and sophistication;
explore the importance of weaving in
engaging mentor texts to foster a strong
reading/writing connection; discover new
practices that create opportunities for
your students to write across the
curriculum; and unpack writing
frameworks and state standards so you
can better guide students to meet and
exceed high expectations. Teachers will
choose one of three days to attend.
