Wallace Weekly

September 7th - September 11th

Weekly Recap

Congratulations on making it through the second week of school!! We were so impressed by what we observed during your planning with the specialists. We enjoy learning more about the curriculum from you and hope we can offer a helpful hint from time to time. The fact that many of you came to the planning meeting with anecdotal notes you’d taken about your students was great and proved the fact we already knew~Wallace teachers are the best~The Dream Team!

A few specifics regarding next week:

Thursday, September 10, is our first PTA Meeting at 6:30. I will introduce you towards the first of the meeting and release you to your classrooms. Immediately following the PTA Meeting, we will hold Meet the Teacher Night. You may have parents who want to skip the meeting and come straight to the classroom. I would just lock the door and cover your window until I make the announcement. The evening is a time to explain classroom expectations and procedures, grading and homework policies, and a time for students to show off their classroom. Your grade level may wish to present together, which is fine, but I would ask you each to individually end in your classroom after the brief team presentation. The PTA is also asking each teacher to announce about the online PTA registration policy (they do not have to pay to join but will still be able to keep up with school/grade level news.) The PTA will send a short script I will forward to you and they will have a parent in the room who would like to use 1-2 of the classroom laptops to sign parents in that night in your classroom. Please designate someone to ensure none of your laptops walk off. This is NOT a time to hold an individual conference for a particular student. If a parent does that, refer them to your phone/email or take down their information and get back with them on Friday to set a time. I ask that Action Teams or grade levels work together to have something on hallway bulletin boards before Thursday evening. I will make sure I correct the college graduation date on the “Class of 20__” banners before then as well (guess it’s a good thing I didn’t get my degree in math, right?!) -Debbie
