HOLY NAME OF MARY
APRIL/MAY 2022
Dear Parents/Guardians
I hope that our Holy Name of Mary families had a nice Easter and are looking forward to the Spring weather that is on its way.
As we did in November, we have once again switched our students' daily schedules with no impact to the teachers or classroom that your child is in. We have found that our students' attention is not as focused as the day progresses. Additionally, due to appointments and commitments that require students being picked up early from school, some subject material is being missed. Both impact the overall understanding of the concepts being taught by our teachers. By flipping the schedules so that courses previously taught in the afternoon are now taught in the morning, we are giving our students the best opportunity to fully engage in the material being taught across all subjects.
We would like to welcome Mrs. Kelly MacDonald to our teaching team until the end of the year. Mrs. MacDonald will be teaching the Grade 6 Immersion and Grade 7/8 Core Language classes.
With restrictions being lifted, we are looking forward to once again inviting our families into our school. Our first event will be the Family Coffee/Muffin Open House on May 5th (details below). Plans are currently underway to organize our outdoor year-end evening which will be held in mid-June.
Yours in Catholic Education,
Caroline LaBelle

Black History Month Art Contest Winners
In February, to honour Black History Month, the CDSBEO hosted an art contest focused on sharing the message of ending racism and promoting belonging. Many amazing submissions were received, and the Board is extremely proud of everyone who shared their talent and this important message through their beautiful art.
Prizes were awarded in each category: Grades 1-3; 4-6; 7-9 and 10-12. Art work was judged on creativity, originality, illustration, and expression of an anti-racism and belonging theme. All entries were original creations.
The winners from Holy Name of Mary are pictured below. Congratulations. We are very proud of you!
