A Message from the Administrative Team
Dear WJHS families,
In District 39, our 7th and 8th grade students take both the Reading and the Mathematics MAP Growth assessments three (3) times per year - Fall, Winter, and Spring. Your child’s winter MAP score serves as a progress update for the current school year to measure growth. As teachers plan and make instructional decisions, they consider this assessment data along with many other sources of information including what they have learned about your child personally.
The D39 Curriculum and Instruction Office sent you information this week that included a few documents that provide you helpful information about your child’s most recent MAP Growth assessment results (Winter 2023).
Please know that a single test or experience can not capture the full story. Day-to-day classroom observations, everyday interactions, completed assignments, and other performance tasks help to create a comprehensive picture of your child as a learner.
District 39 has added an FAQ section about NWEA MAP to the District 39 website. We have linked the site here for your reference.
Under Academics, select Curriculum and Instruction.
Then, click Assessment.
On the left side, click NWEA MAP FAQ and you can find common questions and answers to understanding NWEA MAP.
If you have questions about your child’s overall performance in school, please contact your child’s teacher or building principal.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s academic growth and success.
Sincerely,
Kate, Jeff and Eric
January Leader of the Pack

CAFETERIA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT LUNCH!
Spend an hour and a half of your day helping the school while viewing your child from a distance (we promise they won't even know you're there!). Come at the scheduled time, check in with the cafeteria staff, and they will let you know where they need the help. You will not need to cook, simply give food to the kids. You are done once 6th period lunch is finished. Please tie your hair back or pop on a cap, otherwise the hairnet may be your only option... You've been warned! :)
