A Letter from Dr. Pierce to the Oakdale Families
Dear Oakdale Families,
It is bittersweet for me to write this letter. However, I wanted to inform you that I submitted my letter of resignation to our Board of Education today. After much prayerful consideration and dedicating 40 years to public education, I have decided to retire at the end of the first semester and will begin a second career in the non-profit sector.
Even though this is not the timing I anticipated, God had a better plan! I am completely confident that He has orchestrated every detail leading me into this next chapter. My plans include assuming the position of Executive Director at Ministries of Jesus, Inc. (MOJ). In this role, my God-given abilities and prior experiences will intersect and be used to positively impact the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our community.
The Ministries of Jesus board of directors has committed to working closely with the Oakdale Board of Education to ensure there will be a positive and smooth transition for the district. My last official day of employment is yet to be finalized, but will likely be at or close to the end of the first semester. The Oakdale board will begin meeting very soon to create a plan for the future. Look for more information from them in the near future.
Without a doubt, we have experienced numerous challenges over the last few years! Since 2020, together we endured a global pandemic, witnessed shifting political issues at all levels, and observed a variety of social concerns that impacted public education. As I reflect on these challenges, I am exceptionally proud of how the Oakdale community faced these unprecedented times, persevered together, offered extra grace when needed, and demonstrated civility when times got tough. I am extremely thankful for the unwavering support and encouragement of Oakdale’s kind and caring families.
It has been my pleasure working with the Oakdale community and your children! Oakdale is poised for continued success, and I wholeheartedly wish you all the best in the future.
Sincerely,
Joseph M. Pierce
