Important Dates to Remember
This Month -- April 2024:
Monday 4/1/24: No School - Spring Break
Looking Ahead to Next Month -- May 2024:
Thursday 5/23/24: Last Day of School
Hello Rosa Parks Families!
March was quite possibly the longest month of the year, yet we made it! I think we can all agree we are looking forward to warmer days ahead with a lot of sunshine!
With Spring on the way, please be mindful of the weather and remind your student(s) to be dressing each day for "typical" South Dakota spring weather. We do not have enough extra clothing options and jackets in the office to give students something if they need to change or forget.
Annual Updates can now be completed for CURRENT students enrolled in the Sioux Falls School District. You will need to log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to complete this. Above you will find a button that will take you to the Parent Portal Login page where you will access the annual update along with report cards, attendance infmation, etc.
Annual Updates must be completed each year for students in the district. If you need your username or password, you can request it on the login page or you can reach our to the office between 8:30am - 1:30p and we can help you.
We are working hard to get all things ready for all our new friends who will be joining us this Fall for Kindergarten! If you are still needing to provide a Birth Certificate (we cannot take a copy, we need to make our own), Immunization Records, Address Verification (examples would be a mortgage or lease agreement or current utitility bill showing your name and current address), or any other documents for your NEW students who will be coming to Kindergarten in August, we are in the office Monday - Friday from 7:30a - 3:45p when school is in session.
If you have a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1st and have not yet informed us they will be coming to school, please reach out to the school office as soon as possible so we can get them added to our list and be sure we get all necessary documents from you as well.
Please be sure you have completed the Online Registration for your Kindergarten student as well. Below you will find a "CLICK HERE to Register for Kindergarten, 2024-25" link to follow to complete that for the 2024-25 school year.
Children who will NOT make the cutoff of turning 5 years old prior to September 1st (required by the Sioux Falls School District to start Kindergarten) may consider preschool options such as Learning Adventures Preschool through Sioux Falls School District.
We will continue to keep our "Wildcat Weekly" updated each Friday afternoon, even if the happenings for the following week are minimal. If you are new here, the Wildcat Weekly will give a quick update of things happening here at Rosa Parks for the following week to help you in planning over the weekend. Below is a button you can click on to easily access this.
Continued Reminders:
Chess Club will continue to meet weekly on Thursdays after school from 2:30p - 3:30p through March 21st. If we do not have school, they will not meet. Students MUST be picked up promptly at 3:30p. They will be dismissed from club out the front doors of the school to find their ride. Reminder to parents, Chess Club can only happen if we have an adult volunteer to assist the Chess Master. If you have not already selected a date to volunteer, please click HERE to see what is available and pick an open date that works for you to join the students! If you have questions, please contact the school office for details.
Our school day starts at 7:45a each morning. This means that students can arrive as early as 7:15a to eat breakfast, if needed, otherwise playground supervision begins at 7:25a. The first bell to begin our day rings at 7:40a. At that time, students will line up outside to go inside with staff. If students are still in the breakfast room, they will finish up and head down the hall to class. The second bell of the morning rings at 7:45a. Students who are not in the building at this time are considered tardy. Please do your best to plan ahead with the construction in the area and weather to help get your student to school on time each day.

School Visitor & Safety Info
School Visitors
Visitors are welcomed into the SFSD buildings. With this, we will follow District Visitor Policy. It is a District wide policy; there are NO exceptions.
The Sioux Falls School District is using a NEW visitor management system that requires all visitors to produce a government issued ID prior to entry during school hours the first time you are checking in. After that, the check-in process is much quicker and your ID will not be needed each time. A sticker ID badge will continue to be generated which MUST be worn in a visible location while you are in the building. All parents and visitors will need to check in at the front office if coming to school during the student day. The student day is defined as 7:15am to 3:00pm at Rosa Parks Elementary.
