From The Principal's Desk
Greetings North Wales Families,
It was great seeing everyone Tuesday evening for Back To School Night. Our first in-person session in two years. I hope you enjoyed meeting your child's teacher(s) and gained information that will prepare you for what the year will bring. I enjoyed meeting you and seeing your smiling faces. Our Back To School Social was a huge success! Popsicles on the playground, socializing with our school community, and great weather on top of it. What more can we ask for?
This Wednesday, September 21st is World Gratitude Day. Let us celebrate this day reflecting on what is important in our life. Let someone know they matter, give a smile, a compliment, or a thank you note to show appreciation. We are wearing pink on Wednesday!
We are looking for volunteers to assist in the library. If you are interested in helping out and you have your current clearances, please complete the google form below.

Cultural Highlight Of The Week
The month aims to celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Hispanic and Latinx are not synonymous- The label “Hispanic” refers to people who speak Spanish and/or are descended from Spanish-speaking populations. This is contrasted by “Latino” (or Latina or Latinx), which refers to people who are from or descended from people from Latin America.
According to Pew Research Center findings in 2020, there are about 62.1 million Hispanics in the U.S., making up 19% of the total population. From 2010 to 2020, the U.S. population grew by about 23 million and Hispanics made up 51% of this increase.
Eighteen percent of the U.S. population is Hispanic- which is the largest ethnic or racial minority in the country.
While Hispanic and Latinx people have different cultures, the shared language of Spanish unites them. In 2021, Forbes stated that more than 559 million people speak Spanish around the world. Out of that number, 460 million people are native speakers, making it the second largest population of native speakers behind Mandarin.
Rosh Hashanah
September 25th - 27th
This two-day Jewish celebration of the New Year literally translates to “head of the year” in Hebrew. It is observed on the first and second days of the Jewish month of Tishrei, the first month in the civil calendar. In 2022, it begins on Monday, September 26, and ends at sundown, Tuesday, September 27.
The holiday is celebrated on the first and second days of Tishrei, which generally corresponds to September or October on the Gregorian calendar.
- Rosh Hashanah begins the High Holy Days or Ten Days of Penitence, which end with Yom Kippur.
- One of the most significant rituals during Rosh Hashanah is the blowing of the Shofar, or ram’s horn. It is used as a call to repentance during the High Holy Days.
During this time, Jewish people attend synagogue services and refrain from working.
- Another popular practice is to eat apples dipped in honey, symbolizing the hope for a sweet year to come. Also, challah bread is baked in round loaves instead of braided loaves. The bread is dipped in honey instead of salt.
- Pomegranates are eaten because the seeds are symbolic of the many commandments in the Torah that Jews must fulfill.
- Another popular ritual is to walk to a river or stream and recite special prayers of penitence. Afterward, one throws breadcrumbs in the river, to symbolically cast away sins.
