Students and Teachers are getting FIT!

FIT stands for Future of Instruction and Technology. The CUSD200 FIT guide is a set of best practices in instruction that we use as a guide in creating learning environments for our students. We are striving for our students to be able to access, synthesize, and share knowledge while collaborating and creating anytime, anywhere. The use of technology is not the only way to accomplish these goals, but can certainly be an effective and engaging instructional tool.

Washington has recently added a SmartTV teaching station in the LLC and a green screen. This week Mr. Babb worked with Mrs. Lanza's class as they used the green screen and Ipad Airs purchased by the PTA to demonstrate their learning through video production.

You can read more here about the CUSD 200 FIT Vision.

Welcome, Nurse Christina Motz!

We offer a warm Washington welcome to nurse Christina Motz. Mrs. Motz joins us as our nurse Monday through Wednesday; she works at Franklin Middle School on Thursday & Friday. Over the past year, Mrs. Motz has worked as a substitute nurse in Glen Ellyn school district 41. She has a husband, two college-age sons, and a daughter in high school. Outside of school, Mrs. Motz loves to cook (especially soup!) and ride her bicycle on the Prairie Path. We are so happy to have Mrs. Motz as part of our Washington team!

It's Cold Weather Scale Time!

Washington uses a Cold Weather Color Scale to serve as a guideline for dressing for the weather. These guidelines are enforced for recess grades ADK-3rd and highly encouraged for grades 4 & 5. If the feels-like temperature is below zero or there is heavy rain/snow, we have recess indoors. Otherwise, we like to give students time to play in the fresh air. Boots and snowpants are needed to play in snow. Please encourage your child to dress appropriately for the weather.

You can view the Cold Weather Scale on the Washington website under the Parents & Students heading or by clicking this link: Cold Weather Scale.
