Dear Parents,
Thank you for attending your child’s recent parent teacher conference. We strive for 100% participation because we know how important it is for your child’s success that we work together on their behalf. We work hard to make sure important information is shared and future goals are set.
During these two weeks we have been focusing on the characteristics of trees that we find in our community. The children have had a chance to look around their school and home environment seeking to identify similarities and differences among the trees they have observed. They come to notice specific attributes and are learning to identify some parts of the trees like leaves, branches, fruits, rings and trunks.
The children have been exposed to a variety of learning experiences in class were they have been able to sort and classify leaves and seeds. This also leading to several counting experiences of these natural elements. They had had the opportunity to build puzzles, identify and create shapes and build letters.
We read some very interesting stories such as: Chicka, Chicka 1 2 3, Chrysanthemum and The Giving Tree.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to send in some leaves, seeds and branches for us to use in class. You may continue to do so for the rest of the unit if you find anything interesting your child would like to share.
