Updates from Manassas Park Middle School - 5/3/2019

Week 35 - In the SWING of SPRING!

The calendar has turned from April to May, with our spring sports in full swing! Tonight we are hosting the 8th grade formal, the first of the major events for the end of school year. Be on the lookout for events and be sure to check the calendar in each week's newsletter (below - Big Things Happening!)

Next week is teacher appreciation week. Please see the item below for information on how to help us show our thanks to each of our teachers!

We have lots of sports and concerts coming up, with Band next week and Choir the week after. Come see our students demonstrating their excellence in areas outside of the classroom!

And lastly, this week we honored our 3rd Quarter Honor Roll - Almost 300 students earned a 3.5 of Higher! We are so proud of their accomplishments!

May 13 - A Presentation for Parents

Parents, if you are not familiar with the term juuling, I highly recommend attending the substance use prevention night on May 13th. (See flyer below) MPCS and MPPD will be discussing the most common substances students experiment in middle and high school. Recently there has been a major increase in the number of students who are experimenting with vaping and juuling, thinking it is a harmless way to have fun, when in fact they are taking in nicotine in similiar/greater quantities to smoking cigarettes. Come and learn the facts from the experts, then use that information to have important conversations about health and addiction with your children.

Teacher Appreciation Week!

May 6-10 is teacher appreciation week. Parents, we would LOVE for you to help contribute to the week's celebration of our amazing MPMS teachers by providing desserts for teachers on enjoy on Friday May 10. Please drop them off in the main office that morning and we will take care of the rest!

Thank you!
