The Blood Moon
Is it an Apocalypse? By Tracy Lee
What is Where?
The Blood Moon is visible from most of North and South America, Europe, West Asia and some parts of Africa. The colour is red is due to sunlight being scattered through the Earth’s atmosphere, which is projected onto the surface of the moon. The Blood Moon is a total lunar eclipse, an eclipse occurs when the Earth, moon, and the sun are precisely aligned. During a lunar eclipse, the Earth passes between the moon and the sun and the Earth’s shadow is cast upon the moon’s surface. This lunar eclipse is called a blood moon, because it is the first of four total eclipses in a row.
Why There?
The amount of lunar eclipses in a year can range from 0-3. The sun is the closest star to earth and earth only has one moon so once they are aligned, a lunar eclipse is created.
Why Care?
There is a conspiracy theory that has been proven wrong but it was said that the end of the world would occur on September 28th, 2015. Daily Express cites John Hagee, wrote a book on the Blood Moon that tied the lunar eclipse tetrad to several historical events; in regards to the 2014-2015 tetrad, Hagee said: “Every time this has happened in the last 500 years, it has coincided with tragedy for the Jewish people followed by triumph. And once again, for Israel, the timing of this Tetrad is remarkable.” It is said that with the moon getting further from Earth, that there is an increased risk of events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. There is another a sign of an apocalypse, over 60,000 antelopes died in four days. However, the apocalypse or end of the earth is not going to happen because of the Blood Moon, scientists have confirmed such and we have lived through the last of the tetrad.
