Prestwick Profile - Community Vol. 15 Oct. 30
Preswick LEarns
This past week we had the chance to help young first grade authors to the process of writing for the purpose of publication. Mrs. Jones-Purvis, retired Prestwick STEM Academy teacher, shared her story about the first hand process of writing a children's book. She opened up and explained the process from the beginning stage of brainstorming ideas to revising her work and finally the patient process of publishing of her children's storybook.
All students are authors and now have a better understanding of why we practice our writing. They loved hearing about Mrs. JP's journey and were a truly captivated audience. Many thanks to our first grade team for making this a wonderful experience for our first graders.
If you have a life or career experience you would like to share with learners of any age we WELCOME you! Contact our leadership team or your child's teacher.

Howdy Lobos!
For this week’s spotlight, PSA is excited to introduce and welcome one of our Spanish teachers, Mrs. Myra Wilkinson. This is Mrs. Wilkinson’s second year to teach Spanish and her first year being a part of the Little Elm famiLE.
Mrs. Wilkinson was born in a small town in the central zone of Mexico called Santiago Maravatio, Guanajuato. She moved to Texas in 2004 and graduated from Skyline High School in Dallas. She went on to the University of North Texas (UNT) where she majored in Spanish and completed her teaching certification (Languages Other Than English/Spanish K-12). Mrs. Wilkerson became the first in her family to graduate from college, which served as an inspiration to her two sisters to return to school. They both graduated from UNT Dallas and are now bilingual elementary school teachers.
What Mrs. Wilkinson loves about teaching is being able to give her students the power to communicate with others in a new language and to understand the different customs and traditions from Spanish speaking countries. Her year-end goal is to see her students be able to have a small conversation with her and/or with each other in Spanish and be ready for a successful year in Spanish 2.
Mrs. Wilkinson is married to her amazing husband, Richard, and blessed with a beautiful three month old son, Alvaro. During her free time, she loves to spending time with her family, watching her baby grow, and having a nice family meal full of good conversation.
We are happy to have Mrs. Wilkinson as a part of the PSA family!
