The Great Philosopher
Aristotle was born in a Greek colony called Stagirius.He was born in a rich family because his father was a court physician for the king of Macedonia.When he was 17, Aristotle's father died and he went to Athens to study at Plato's Acadamy.Aristotle became a teacher and spent a total of 20 years at the Acadamy.When Plato ARistotle moved to Macedonia, and became a tutor of Alexander The Great.in 335 Aristotle made his own school.called Lyseam in Athens.He taught his idea of causality, which states that each thing or event has more than one reason that helps to explain why,what,and where it is.He like to teach more about biology instead of mathematics,like Plato.Aristotle came up with many wise quotes,some of them are:
" we are what we repeatedly do.EXcellence, then is not an act, but a habit."
"We make war so that we may live in peace"
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
Aristotle's ideas Were the foundation of western culture.He was the originator of a
pro- reason approach to philosophy.He liked science and he came up with the basic principle s of scientific epistemology.He also did many things in ethics, the most important of them is that he laid the foundation of this- worldly ethics.Aristotle said that man's goal is to achieve personal pride and personal happiness by using ones intellectual ability to the fullest.
