Weekly Recap
Hopefully this message finds you in good spirits. The week had several highlights that included College Awareness Week, exploration, Focus Checks, social-emotional learning, cooperative learning, creative activities, and professional development for faculty, and all of that makes us excited and eager for the upcoming week.
This week, there will be various workshops to educate and entertain. Tuesday, we welcome ALL Lake Ridge families out to our Open House. This will be a chance for us to share and fellowship with you, and scholars will be able to sign up for various clubs. Make plans to be there; it starts at 6:00 p.m. The district's Special Education department is hosting a workshop that will provide information regarding supports and resources; see the event listing on below to RSVP. Elementary seems like such a long way from college, but it is never too early to start planning. Counselor Johnson, along with all other elementary counselors in the district, have a planned an event meant to give parents a head-start in planning for college; details are included in the event listing. Finally, we will end the week with our "Movie Night under the Stars" that is hosted by PTA. This is a FREE family event, so come on out to Valley Ridge Park with your family and friends, and don't forget your lawn chairs and/or blankets.
As a gentle reminder, when sending notes regarding your child's absence, be sure to indicate the child's full name, the date of the absence, and sign/date the note. This will help ensure that notes are entered in a timely manner. Speaking of attendance, our campus goal for the year is 98%. Currently, we are averaging 97%. Let's all continue to work together to reach our attendance goal. The district is providing incentives to campuses for meeting the goal, and we do not want to miss out on this opportunity because all funds ultimately pour back into impacting our scholars.
As I close this weekly recap, I would love for you all to join me in wishing much success to Mrs. Binger, our Campus Secretary, as we say farewell to her. She received a job offer that was hard to resist, and her last day will be Tuesday, September 25, so when you see her, give her your well wishes.
