The Pizitz Post
for Students, Parents & Families - November 7, 2022
Living History Day
The choir and band performances were exceptional. Our students led in a variety of other ways as well- introducing special guests, creating posters for the parade, writing thank you notes to our guests, presenting the flags, creating artwork, and baking cookies for the event. Our guest speaker, Matt Driskoll, is a former Pizitz student. His military experience and his love for the Vestavia Hills community was evident in his challenge to our students. He, along with other veterans, shared the importance of taking the time to remember and recognize sacrifice. He challenged our students to think about their gifts and consider how they might be able to serve. This Veterans' Day, we hope your family is able to take time to thank others for their service. If you were unable to watch the live feed, it is recorded for you to view here.
Remember, we will not have school this Friday in honor of our veterans.
A Few Things to Note
As the year continues, there are a few things we all need to remember to help things run effectively and efficiently here at Pizitz:
- Keep in mind that the bell rings at 8:00 each morning to begin class. A student is counted tardy if he/she is not in the classroom by 8:00.
- We do not allow checkouts after 2:30. Please do not plan on checking your child out during 8th period.
- Carpool runs each afternoon from 3:05-3:30. Please make sure to pick up your child by 3:30 each afternoon.
Canned Food Drive
Please bring in canned goods that you would like to donate to your homeroom teacher. NO GLASS will be accepted. Please think of things that YOU would like to eat when making your donation. The homeroom in each grade which brings in the most canned goods will receive a donut party.
Students, let's work together to provide for those in need around us!
Holiday Assistance Program
Believe it or not, the holidays are right around the corner. At Pizitz, we would love to come together to provide support for families in our school community who have a need.
If you need assistance for the holidays or you would like to sponsor a student at Pizitz, please fill out this form no later than Thursday, November 10.
If you have questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to one of our school counselors – Becca Poe, Nicole Howell, or Amber Payne. All information about student needs will remain confidential.
Our Pizitz PTO Fall Fundraiser- Partner with Pizitz- began on Friday, November 4 and will end on November 11. This year, we are focused on raising funds to purchase furniture options for our school that will promote student engagement and collaboration in our classrooms. Our goal is to raise $25,000 and we need your help to reach it! More information about how to donate will be coming this week. We are grateful for your support and are also excited about a fun homeroom competition!

Hike the Hill
Hike the Hill was established by the Vestavia Hills Rotary Club as a family fun event promoting health and wellness to support Vestavia Hills Community Schools. The “hill” symbolizes a student’s climb from elementary school that finishes on the “hill” at VHHS and recognize the climb of life-long learning that connects all of us. Everyone is encouraged to wear their t-shirt and hike one of the four routes found at www.vestaviarotary.org during November 1-15 (during the heart of Veteran's Day Celebrations) and join the community hike on Sunday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. (beginning at the bridge across from Andy’s Nursery).
First Priority
First Priority is a student-led club at Pizitz. This is a Christian organization that meets before school. Come join us as we gather every Thursday morning at 7:25 AM in the choir room! Everyone is welcome! Contact Mr. Sutter or Mrs. Windle if you have questions.
