Happy New Year 2023!!
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy 2023!
I would like to welcome you back to school hoping you had a wonderful holiday break.
As a reminder, MUSD wants to ensure we take all the proper return-from-break safety measures and start the new year safe and healthy. Prior to the winter break we sent at-home, over-the-counter (OTC) test kits with each student so they are able to test for COVID-19 prior to returning to school. The acceptance and use of the OTC kits is 100% voluntary. MUSD will not ask for the results of your test, however, if an individual does test positive we ask that you self-report, stay home, and follow the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Guidance. Mask-wearing for students and staff members is not required but is encouraged.
As a school, we will continue to have safety cleaning procedures in place using a 360 Clorox Machine to sanitize every classroom daily, use air purifiers in every classroom, and continue to ask students to wash their hands frequently. By following these protocols and with our collective efforts, Winter Gardens has experienced a very successful first semester. Our COVID-19 response has been successful thanks to everyone strictly adhering to all of our protocols and safety practices and not attending school with symptoms or until a negative test confirms COVID is not responsible for those symptoms. We can provide students with a free COVID-19 test kit if requested by their parents. Rember, COVID-19 isn't the only infectious disease affecting our students. We have a triple threat: COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) that is currently affecting our kids. You can read more about the triple threat in the news article below. Keep in mind that when we work together as a school community, we can overcome anything and provide assistance to those in need. Please read the remainder of this Newsletter to learn about upcoming events, our new teachers, and other important information regarding Winter Gardens.
I am grateful to serve such an amazing community and I look forward to our continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr. Cortez, Principal
Welcome WGE's New Teachers
Mrs. Teresa Do (Kinder) I am a university graduate of Riverside, with a master’s degree in Education. I have over seven years of teaching experience. This is my first year teaching Kindergarten. And it is an absolutely life-changing adventure! Besides teaching, I love going to the libraries, and museums, and spending time with my family on hikes. | Crystal Ruiz (1st Grade)Hello Winter Gardens Elementary! I have nine years of combined experience as a paraprofessional, substitute teacher, and classroom teacher. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I believe that every child is capable of learning and I strive to make my students succeed in their educational achievements as well as their socioemotional well-being. | Jeanette Rubalcava (1st/2nd Grade) I grew up attending school in Montebello and graduated from Schurr High School. I continued my education and graduated from the California State University of Northridge. My husband and I have three awesome kids who keep us busy with sports and activities. I played softball and soccer growing up and love to share my passion for sports with my students as well as my own kids. I am so honored to be teaching the community of Montebello and looking forward to joining the staff at Winter Gardens. |
