Staffing/Grade Level Assignments -as of 8/7/20
Jensen Main Option and Virtual Staffing Assignments 20-21
Updating Class Lists
"Version 2: 20-21 Digital Class Placement Form Opened on 8/6/20" -Need Class Placements Updated by Monday/Jeanine will update Aeries on Tuesday
This is the current student class placement list that was built at the end of the school year. The digital class placements need to be updated based upon new teaching assignments and student numbers. The staffing assignment lists show the total number enrolled including combo numbers so you will use both of these forms to rebuild the class placement forms.
Please work virtually with your grade level team to reshuffle the students as needed by Monday (night is ok). There is much more work to be done in the primary grades due to the new combo in 1-2. Students who have moved to CVVPE are in blue and students who have moved or told us they are moving (but are still in Aeries) are in red. As you build your new classes, you may remove the names in blue and red. They are there only for your information so you know where students went as you plan.
Committees/Additional Duties
We will revisit this list on Aug. 11 and finalize no later than Aug. 21.

Chromebook and Mifi/Hotspot Distribution
I will manage the Chromebook distribution for families. We are now able to offer 1:1 distribution to families and I will be encouraging families to check-out a district Chromebook and explain that the use of phones and iPads are not sufficient for the work students will be required to do. We are also making a mifi/hot spot application available for families and those that qualify can receive a mifi for student use. One can be issued per family.
Student Supplies/Materials Distribution
Please see the email that went out today (Fri., 8/7) regarding school supplies and reviewing your lists. Please let me know if your supply lists are the same or different and provide an updated list to me no later than Wed., 8/12 at 10 a.m. Please also share your supply lists directly with your families (either Tues. evening or Wed. morning) and remind them that the lists are recommended but voluntary to purchase.
Textbook Update
Many of our textbooks districtwide are delayed out 2-4 weeks. The textbook companies apparently laid-off workers in the early days of the pandemic and have only recently brought folks back meaning orders are being shipped out late everywhere. I will update you as materials arrive.
What has arrived:
- Fundations
- Studies Weekly
New Online Resources Purchased by CVUSD
- RAZKids Plus (K-5)
- InSync Math Instructional Videos
- Teachers College Writer's Workshop Instructional Videos
Modern Teacher Modules #1-4
As part of the district PD, you will need to complete the Modern Teacher modules #1-4
Laminator/Paper Cutter in MPR
The laminator and the paper cutter are now in the MPR to allow another workspace for staff. If you have other suggestions to smooth our new workspace flow, please share your suggestions and I'll work with Jarvis to determine possibilities.
Donor's Choose is Funding Projects!
This is the perfect time of year to get a project funded. There are often several big companies that will fund half of your project once you hit the 50% funding mark. So far, Brynya, Tamara and Carrie have had projects funded in the past couple of weeks. Just a reminder that any items you get funded technically become CVUSD property. Something to keep mind, but it should not impact your creative ideas for projects to be funded!
Board Policy: Working w/ Students for Pay Outside of Work Hours
In order to help maintain public trust in the integrity of district operations, the Board of Education expects all employees to give the responsibility of their positions precedence over any other outside employment. A district employee may receive compensation for outside activities as long as these activities are not inconsistent, incompatible, in conflict with, or inimical to his/her district duties. below are examples, but not an exhaustive list of policies that can be found in the links below.
- It is important to read these policies if you are or are considering providing educational support services to students. I know parents are reaching out to CVUSD staff for support outside the schooldays. Please ensure you know the rules and are in compliance.
- You cannot provide outside services to students who are currently or were on caseload in the past.
- You cannot use school facilities, equipment, materials to provide outside services for your personal gain.
- You must get approval from me.

Frontline-New Absence Reporting System
Hello CVUSD employees,
Welcome back! We hope this email finds you well. We want to let you know that we have implemented the new Frontline Absence Management system effective July 1st. This means we discontinued eSchools Solutions and the 4 part paper Request for Leave forms on July 1st. The Employee Sign In sheets will continue for now. Momentarily a welcome letter from Frontline will appear in your Inbox with instructions on the basics of the Absence Management system. We ask that you please take time to login to Frontline and familiarize yourself with the Absence Management Dashboard. The easiest way to login to Absence Management is from your district email account, when logged in click the 9 dot waffle in the top right corner and scroll down to the purple Frontline SSO icon. You can also easily access Absence Management through the mobile phone app. Frontline Education. Attached to this email is the Employee Quick Start Guide and Mobile Quick Start Guide instructions. We are really looking forward to using this new efficient system that will help us streamline the employee absence process. No more Leave Slips floating around! Employees can instantly view their Leave Balances and can check on the status of their Absence Requests!
Please note, the video refers to logging in using a Frontline ID. CVUSD employees will login using the Single Sign-On (SSO) through your district email address.
