Having a Blast at Our First Assembly of the Year!

MM Communication Platforms

As we begin the year, I wanted to take a moment to review the ways that we communicate and shar e information with our families. Please see the descriptions below to better understand what platforms we use, and what type of information we share via each medium.

Subscribe to the Remind Emergency Group

In the past, we have used Remind as a means to text parents information on a variety of topics such as the MM calendar, extra curricular activities, and emergency information.

This year, we are only using Remind to send out emergency information. Communication will be limited to information about emergency drills or an actual emergency situation. If you would like to subscribe to receive emergency Remind messages, there are two different options below. Either will work with a smartphone.

If you signed up last year, you do need to sign up again as I have to clear the subscriptions each summer (as to ensure the parents of our recent graduates don't continue to receive text messages).

You can use the method below to sign up for Remind if you have a smartphone and simply don't want one more app!

Author, Activist & Philanthropist Kim Phuc to Visit Marie Murphy!

Next week, students at both Marie Murphy School and Avoca West School will welcome UNESCO Peace Ambassador, Kim Phuc, and Pulitzer Prize Winning Photographer, Nick Ut.

Ms. Phuc, most well known as, "The Girl in the Picture/the Naplam Girl", will be speaking to our students, promoting a message of hope, forgiveness, and peace.

6th graders will travel to Avoca West on Tuesday, September 10, to join the 4th and 5th graders for Ms. Phuc's presentation from 10:30-11:20. Ms. Phuc will then travel to MM later that afternoon to speak to the 7th and 8th graders from 1:30-2:30.

Ms. Phuc and Mr. Ut will also be doing a short presentation for the community and signing copies of Kim's memoir, Fire Road, at The Book Stall in Winnetka from 6:30-7:30 PM.
