Chula Vista High School - Home of Champions!
Week 20 January 9th - January 15th
Message from the Principal
Good evening Spartans,
Happy new year! I hope you had a great holiday break and are having an awesome start to the new year. It feels like just a few days ago we were returning from summer break. This fall semester went by really fast and believe it or not, the spring semester will go by even faster. Students, please take advantage of the fresh start you have academically with the new semester. If you had a successful fall semester, keep up the good work! If you had difficulties with some of your classes, the start of a new semester provides you with an opportunity to have a fresh start and to also seek help with challenging subjects right away. Don't procrastinate!
We are looking forward to seeing all of our students back on campus tomorrow, Tuesday January 10th, 2023. Tomorrow we will be on a regular B Block schedule. Due to staffing changes and semester long classes, some students schedules were made that will affect some of our students. We ask all students to report to their second period class tomorrow where they will receive a new locator card for second semester. Students should check their schedule in Infinite Campus to make sure they are reporting to the correct second period class. We will also have posters around campus tomorrow directing students to the appropriate class. Our campus entrance gates by the 100 building and K street will open at 8:00am. Please remember that for the safety of our students, the gates to our K street parking lot are for staff and district vehicles only. Students should not use those gates as a pedestrian entrance to campus.
For students than need to arrive earlier than 8:00am, our before school program, The Vault opens at 7:15am.The entrance to The Vault is through the Youth Center on L street. We also have tutoring available starting at 7:15am. Our morning tutoring program meets in the College and Career Center located in the main 100 building. If you plan on attending the before school tutoring program, please enter through the main 100 building entrance. Both of these options offer a safe place for students to wait for the school day to start, under the supervision of our staff. These programs are free and are available to all of our students.
One last reminder as we start the new semester. Unauthorized cell phone use during class continues to be one of the primary factors that lead to students not being engaged in class, resulting in low grades. Unless students have permission from their teacher, cell phones should remain silenced and put away. Also, remember to update your laptops and bring them fully charged daily.
Let's work together to make it a successful spring semester.
