The battle of Fort Sumter started the Civil War. Fort Sumter was attacked on surprise. In an effort to resupply Fort Sumter president James Buchanan ordered the ship star of the west to proceed to Charleston, S.C. Finally the confederates won the battle.

Harriet tubman was born as a slave. She led hundrdes to freedom in the North as the most famous'' conductor'' on the Underground Railroad. She saved 300 slaves from slavery . She died at age 91.
