Reddit Serial Killer
A little girl opens a blog and on her blog she tells all of her viewers about her uncle being a serial killer. She shows the all the evidence she has newspaper clippings, bloodstained clothes, and other incriminating evidence. This only lasted 26 minutes all of here evidence was linked to other Wikipedia pages from other previous crimes. But who was actually behind it was a group of students form George Madison University it all turned out to be part of a course the students were taking.
LonelyGirl15
In June 2006, a 16-year-old girl began posting video blogs about her everyday life under the YouTube username “lonelygirl15.” As she began to gain some followers, the video blog started to change, Bree Avery, started to tell about her family was participating in strange cult practices and that the cult members were holding her captive in her house. The videos began to gain more and more of a following when Bree’s parents went missing and she was pressured to take part in secret cult ceremonies. The videos captured the minds of concerned viewers until it was outed as fictional four months after it began but everyone started to get suspicious but later on they found out she was an uncover the actress behind the name lonelygirl15. Show kept on going and took many spins until the end in 2008.
Save Toby
Pet rabbit of James and Brian the one who created SaveToby.com. They created their website in early 2005, promising to kill and eat Toby if they didn’t receive $50,000 dollars by June 30, they would also put up videos of him and would tell everyone of how they were planning on cooking and eating him. Later they came out with a book called “ Only You have the Power to save Toby” and threatened that if the book didn’t sell 100,000 copies then they would go through with their promise. Animal rights activates tried to close down the webpage, but was not able to because it is legal to eat a rabbit. At the end it was a hoax but the page was still able to claim $20,000.
True or False?
You really shouldn’t trust everything you see on the internet because not everything that’s on there is true just like rumors you may be hearing around. When scanning the internet such as blogs, social media, ect. So you won’t be hoaxed you should go to the original pages that include .net .org .edu ect. not all . coms have all the valid information you might be looking for and this will also help you stay away form fraud.
