The Triton Tribune Parent Edition

Be Kind ~ Be Awesome ~ Make The Right Choices

Volume 3 ~ Issue 18 ~ December 6, 2021

Amazing Triton Students and Parents/Guardians,

"Gratitude and attitude are not challenges; they are choices." ~Robert Braathe

Families, we are almost done with Semester 1! I am so grateful for you and for allowing me to lead you in these tough times. It is hard to imagine that 16 weeks ago, we returned to school in-person and with much apprehension. In spite of the uncertainty, I think we have come out stronger than ever. I just want to thank all of you for hanging in there. We are almost done and like you, I will be looking forward to the three-week break. But before we go into the break, below are important events that will be occurring in the next couple of weeks.

END-OF-COURSE EXAMS INFORMATION

It is only two weeks away from end-of-course exams or finals, which will be given on December 13 (Periods 1 & 2), 14 (Periods 3 & 4) & 15 (Periods 5 & 6). These dates are all minimum days with a release time of 1:15pm.

SEMESTER 1 EMPATHY SURVEY

Like we did a year ago, in November, FAC approved for us to conduct a one-to-one empathy survey of at least one student in your class. Teachers have been asked to interview one student from their classes; it could be you. This survey asks students' learning experience this semester. If each teacher interviews one student, we should have 65 responses that we can analyze and implement Semester 2. The leadership team will analyze the results and will share it with the entire Triton Community at the start of Semester 2.

GRATITUDE NOMINATIONS FOR STAFF

Tritons, you have the opportunity to honor a staff member or more by completing a gratitude nomination form. Click on this LINK to access the form. If you are nominating one staff member, you only need to complete once. However, if you want to recognize more than one, you will need to complete the form by the number of staff members you wish to recognize. You also have to use your district gmail/Google account NOT your personal one. We will close this form on December 10. Our goal is to have all staff members recognized.

TRITON MOTIVATION SEND-OFF DAY IS DECEMBER 17, 2021

Our big event is just around the corner! Please read all the information below. The biggest change in this event is the requirement of ALL students to be tested for Covid-19 regardless of vaccination status. While this is an event during school hours, students will not be in their classrooms as they will be moving between three events. Consequently, to ensure our safety protocols, ALL students must be tested 72 hours prior the event. Students who do not get a negative COVID test result will not be able to participate; they will be given an alternative activity. Some of you have already submitted consent forms for the pooled testing. If you have not, click on this LINK to complete the consent form. So far, we have approximately 700 students who have submitted consent forms. Let's make this 100%. Test dates are: December 13 and December 15 during TSP. If you have any questions regarding pooled testing, please contact any of the administration team to have your questions answered.

SCHOOL CODE FOR CONCENTRIC TESTING: SWEETWATER-ELM

Other than donations for the holiday care packages (see below), we are also in need of the following donations to supplement our Fun Field Activities:

  1. Yoga instructor(s) who are willing to donate their time to lead students in breathing and stretching exercises. It could be for the entire day (8:30am - 12:45pm) or parts of the day.
  2. A couple more classic cars for our mini-car show. Again, any time commitment will be appreciated.

Also, to access our Amazon Wish List, click on this LINK. We are really making great progress. I just put in my order for my donations to our cause. Please share with your friends and families! We can do this!

PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ORGANIZATION (PTSO)

On behalf of the PTSO officers, I would like to encourage you to join PTSO for this year. The cost is $10/person. All funds are given back to the school in the form of teacher grants, teacher celebration and other community events. Last year, PTSO did not have a membership drive because we were not in person but now they are back. If you are interested in joining PTSO, please email our PTSO president, Ms. Erin Ferma. Her email is Erin erinphd2005@gmail.com or you may contact her at 619.379.4780. Below is the PTSO flyer that contains a QR code that makes it easy for you to join PTSO. Thank you for supporting their work.

Finally, please read the newsletter in its entirety as there are many pertinent information regarding school for the next two weeks.

Let's have a wonderful week!

What is the Triton Motivational Send-off Event?

This event was created to prepare students to go into the holiday break with hope and that they will be remain strong during this break, which has been identified as one of the most challenging times that students experience. Our goal is for every student present will participate.

Since students will not be in their regular classrooms, the district views this event just like Homecoming or Prom. See schedule below. This means ALL students must provide a 72-hour negative test regardless of vaccination status. Right now, we only have 700 students with consent forms. Tritons, if you want to participate you must participate in our pooled testing or get the test from your provided. Parents, this means you need to complete the Concentric Consent Form so that your children can be tested on Monday, December 13 or Wednesday, December 15. The district will provide a rapid antigen site on Friday; however, we have not scheduled a timeslot for testing so it is possible that if your child waited to test until Friday, they will miss out on an event. Click on this LINK to access the consent form. THE CODE IS: SWEETWATER-ELM.

This week, we will start our TSP Advisory Donation competition. When you are donating something, please click on this link to submit your donations. Then bring them to school with your name on it and the name of your TSP teacher.

To make it easier to donate, I have created a TMS Amazon wish List and it has come in handy as the donations are starting to arrive steadily. Click HERE to access the Amazon Wish List

Tritons, on that day, you will need to bring a light backpack, your IPAD and a writing utensil and lunch, if you don't get your meals at school.
