PSAT Testing and Practice Test
All PISD 10th graders will be taking the PSAT on October 16. While this test is the real PSAT, and students do get a real score for it, it is designed to be a practice before students take PSAT in 11th grade (the year it counts for National Merit and other scholarships). If you are interested in yet another practice, before the practice PSAT at Vines, Williams High School is sponsoring a practice test on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Students testing in October at Vines do not need to register or pay any fee, but if you are interested in participating the Saturday practice PSAT at Williams, you will need to use the attached registration form/flier and pay the $15 testing fee. Forms and fees should be submitted directly to the Williams High School Main Office. The deadline to register for the practice test at Williams is Sept. 18.

Important Things to Know About Attendance
Doctor notes are extremely important to remember now that the 90% rule has gone back into affect. When a student is signed in or out of school for an appointment the classes missed will be an unexcused absence until the time a doctor/dentist note is turned in (also remember you have 3 days to turn one in). Your student needs to be in class at least 90% of the time each semester and doctor/dds/ortho appointments can add up quickly when notes are not turned in. If you happen to forget, you may have one faxed directly to the Attendance Office from the doctor to 469-752-7801.
FEC(LOCAL) Attendance For Credit
A student who has not been in attendance for 90 percent of the days the class is offered shall not be awarded credit or a final grade except in courses designated as having innovative instructional arrangements or through methods for regaining credit described in this policy.
Helpful tip for picking up your student inside school hours:
Send your child with a parent note stating what time you need them to be in the front office. This becomes their pass and will get them out of class by themselves and the teacher does not need to wait for an aide or myself to call the classroom. They then bring the note to attendance and sign out. This can be a huge timesaver for parents!
Please do not call ahead to have your child pulled from class. Too many times the student is waiting in the office for longer than necessary and missing valuable instruction time. If you did not send a note, leave yourself a few extra minutes as it may take some time to retrieve your child.
