Ruben the Road Safety Bear

On Wednesday, our Year 0-3 students were very lucky to have a visit from Ruben the Road Safety Bear and his friend Garry to highlight their road safety messages and help us keep our tamariki safe.

These messages are:

Seat yourself right buckle in tight

Helmets on right and tight

Look out for sneaky driveways

Stop Look Listen and Link and

Be bright dress bright.

Easter Basketball tournament

Over Easter weekend the Mel Young Easter Classic Basketball Tournament was held in Tauranga. One of the biggest tournaments in NZ, a massive 420 games were played over four days.

I was lucky enough to be selected for the Waikato Country U11 rep team, and we played 6 games in the A grade league. We won all our games except for the game against Waikato U11 on the first day - they beat us by a whopping 43 points!

As we won all the other games we ended up facing Waikato U11 again in the final. At full time the score was 70-70 and we had to play 3 minutes of extra time. We worked even harder and won in extra time 77-72. It was a real underdog story! We were so excited and proud to win.

I think it's the first time Waikato Country U11 has won the trophy.
