Life's a Scream when you get to read fab- BOO- lous books that are sure to SCARE your SOCKS off!

Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming in two weeks (Sept. 14 - 18)! Our PTA Book Fair Fairies will transform our media center into a fun, whimsical, monster under the bed explosion. The best part is we get to shop great books all week long! Parents and Grandparents are welcome to attend and shop throughout the week. Shopping times are from 8:30 - 2:30. Be sure to contact your child's teacher for their specific time to shop so you can select books together. As always, our Teacher Wish List will be posted so that you can purchase books for your child's classroom library. Can't wait to see you there!

Upcoming and Continuing Units of Study

Reading

We are finishing up Tiger Rising, and continuing to follow characters and their actions. Students will be taking a test over Tiger Rising next week.

Writing

We are continuing to study Opinion writing by learning strategies that make us more persuasive.

Word Study

Students will have a test over Sort #2- pre/post/after on Wednesday. A study guide and list of words was passed out Thursday, and the Quizlet links to study are posted on eClass.

Math

We will be continuing our unit covering whole numbers and operations. We will continue covering multiplication strategies and move into division strategies. Remember to check the Math Resource Round-Up (link provided below) frequently for resources to help support at home. This is a living document that is changing and updating constantly.

Science/Social Studies

We will continue our social studies unit over the causes and events of the Civil War. We have provided a parent study guide attached below. This is for parents (not students) to be familiar with what we will be covering in class. Due to the amount of material in the unit, it will consist of two test grades. The first test will cover the causes and events leading up to the Civil War on Tuesday, September 8th. You can find the study guide for this test also attached below.
