ELA & Social Studies

The Colonial America books are looking great! Be sure to ask your child about their book!

Mrs. Close's Class - We are about a ¼ of the way through Module 5. Up to this point the kids have worked on decomposing fraction using unit fractions and creating equivalent fractions using multiplication and division. Next week the kids will take the equivalent fraction quiz and begin to compare fractions.

Mrs. Gleason's Class - We have finally finished Module 3! That was a long one. The kids finished up the assessment today. We are moving on to Module 4. This module introduces the kids to some geometry topics. They will identify, name, measure, and draw lines, line segments, rays, and angles. We continue to practice multiplication facts in school. Please be sure they are spending some time at home practicing their facts as well.

Mr. Philipp's Class - This week the students finished up Module 3 by learning different strategies to solve two digit by two digit multiplication problems. We also examined how to solve multiple step problems. The remainder of the week involved reviewing for Friday’s test. Area and perimeter, dividing, multiplying, factors, and multiples were the main concepts. Next week, we will be starting Module 4 which focuses on geometry!

The kids experimented breaking the force this week! Next week we'll move onto series and parallel circuits.
