Leeds SCITT Newsletter
Winter 2018 - number 3
Welcome to the Leeds SCITT Newsletter
Welcome to our third Leeds SCITT Newsletter for this academic year. Our aim is to share good practice across the partnership, keeping all interested parties up to speed with key information. Well done to Hannah Shipman, our trainee of the week! This week I want to thank Lizzie Wlodarcyzk (a trainee from last year) for sharing her memories of the course. Next week the Newsletter will focus on your Level 7 presentation.
Celebrating Your Success - Trainee of the Week
Sharing is Caring - Lizzie Wlodarcyzk a trainee from last year shares her top tips from a year ago....
Stage 2 top tips
- for me it was the most challenging part of the course, with cold dark days and an ever-growing timetable. Don't let this get you down, everyone is in the same boat!
- stay organised and back up all of your evidence in case of any technical issues!
- plan for the week, not the day. For example, choose a slot each week when you evaluate your lessons. Choose a slot when you plan a particular year group. Choose a slot when you do some marking.
Tips for the Link Tutor visit
- have all your evidence you have collated so far easily accessible.
- be honest. Flag up any issues beforehand so you these can be resolved during the meeting.
- show off! You should be proud of everything you have done so far!
Frequently asked questions.
Do I need to provide my Link Tutor with a formal lesson plan when they observe my lessons? Yes. Your Link Tutor will be expecting a formal lesson plan with copies of any of the resouces that you are going to use.
Do I need to have started teaching my progression map lessons? Your Link Tutor will want to know what topic you are planning to teach for your progression map. Hopefully you will have started researching your topic, some of you will have started the teaching. Don't leave this all until after Christmas.
Link Tutor Visits
When your Link Tutors come to visit you, they are primarily checking that you are settled and everything is in place in your placement school for you to make good progress. Your Link Tutors will look through the evidence you have saved so far. Please have a look at this checklist that details the evidence that you need by the end of stage 2.
Have you tried..........
- using mini whiteboards
- using think, pair, share
- personalising the learning
- standing at the back of your classroom to see how your slides look to the pupils
- marking using the schools marking policy?
Focus on target setting.
Finally....
There are only 24 sleeps until Christmas. Please get in contact, it would be great to have all of your schools included in the Newsletter. Have a great weekend.
