News from Mrs. Howe's Class
Week of Monday, November 12
What We've Been Working On:
Recently, we have started learning about our Solar System. The whole class did well on their assessment of the planets! We were very proud of them. We have also been working on long multiplication in mathematics. Don't be scared if you see them doing it differently; they are developing strategies! Give them a chance to show you. In Social Studies, we have started learning about the Spanish and French colonies. We've found that life was a lot different when America was just starting out! We have also finished up studying non-fiction texts. This week, we have moved on to fiction. A class favorite! Overall, we are working hard on many different, interesting things in the classroom!
Please make sure that your child is drawing and observing the Moon each night. It is imperative for our Moon phase unit we will be beginning after Thanksgiving! If they can't see the Moon outside, this website is a huge help: http://lunaf.com/english/live-data/moon-phase...
We are finishing up swimming lessons on Friday of this week. Please remember that your child should have their bathing suit on when they come to school!
Multiply!
We learned how to use manipulative pieces to explain how we multiply!
Swim!
We have been swimming up a storm the past two weeks! We are so sad it's almost over!
Day and Night!
We have begun our study on day and night and the seasons! We learned that the Sun's rays head towards Earth in a straight line!
