Buc's Bulletin

Our Weekly Class Newsletter April 27th- May 1st

A Note from Mrs. Buc

Happy May! Wow, time flies! It feels like forever ago since I have written a newsletter! I hope this newsletter finds everyone well. We have been busy this week working on our autobiographies for Young Authors Night! It's a good thing we started them back in October! We will be working on them right until the day of our showing. As a friendly reminder, the 'Flat Me's' are due back on Monday, so please remind the last person who has it to send it back! The kids are enjoying sharing their adventures and we have started putting them in the hall for everyone to see! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Shabbat Shalom!

What Did We Learn This Week?

Language Arts

This week in spelling, we practiced words that remain the same when adding ed and ing. In grammar, we reviewed adjectives and adding er/ est when comparing 2 nouns. The rest of the week, we concentrated on editing and writing our final drafts of our autobiographies. Wait until you read what the children hope to achieve in their futures! You will get a good chuckle!

We explored the customary and metric systems of measurement this week. We focused on length of different items and measured in centimeters and inches. It was fun measuring with rulers!! Then, on Friday, we had a blast with munchy math as we measured licorice!! Yummy!!

Dear 2nd grade parents,

This was a review week. We practiced and drilled our Cursive Hebrew letters.

We also worked in our Shalom books, read stories and completed relater pages.

Please encourage your student to practice Hebrew at home with this fun app:

Social Studies

We learned about the 5 animal kingdoms this week: mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and fish. We learned that they are all vertebrates (animals with backbones). It was fun reading about these animals and listing 4 interesting facts about each one. Next week, we will categorize different animals into the 5 kingdoms and review for our test the following week.
