What a Wonderful first week!!

What an amazing first week of school!! I am so proud of our teachers, staff, students and parents! We are all learning and growing in our new system of learning. I have been visiting classes and seeing wonderful classroom activities. Thank you for your patience, parents and students, as we navigate technical issues and get them worked out. Please continue to call the office for help logging in or with any device problems, as your child's teacher needs to focus on instruction. Remember, teachers do have office hours in the afternoon after instruction is over and they can answer e-mails, Dojo messages, and return phone calls at this time.

Emergency Information

Please make sure to log in to your Parent Portal and complete the Data Confirmation.

Go to orangeusd.org and click on Student/Parent Portal. Log-in with your username and password. Click on Student Info. Click on Data Confirmation. Go through each section, checking that the information is accurate.

When completed, please print and sign the Over the Counter Medication form and the Emergency Card form. Then turn the form in to the school, either in person or by e-mail. If you do not have a printer, please come to the office and we can support you with this process.

Nutrition Services

Every Monday or Wednesday from 11:30-2:30, parents can come to school to pick up multiple to-go meals for your OUSD children. Bring their student ID# with you. If you must bring your children, please do not come until their academic learning is over at 1:15. Please find Ms. Evelia on the Sycamore Street side of campus in the bus drop off zone.

PTA and ELAC volunteers

If you are interested in being one of our PTA or SSC (School Site Council) volunteers, please call the office and let us know. We are still in need of a few volunteers for each group. Elections will be held in September. We so appreciate your help! If you are not sure how you can help, we will teach you! Thanks again!

Social Emotional Learning & Team-Building

In this difficult time in history, all of OUSD will be focusing more on students' social and emotional needs. In their classes, students will have many lessons and activities that help support their connection to each other and their teacher, as well as processing their many emotions and struggles of the impact of life during a pandemic.

For the first couple weeks, your children will be doing a lot of whole-group activities, but as we get into September, you will see more individualized academic instruction, focused on the needs of small groups of students.

Important Notices

  • Sycamore offers a free and public education. All books and required supplies will be provided. Additionally, if you are in need of any additional school supplies, please call Mrs. Alma in the office and let her know.
  • Sycamore is a Title I school. This is a federal program that provides extra funding to support students' needs in order to meet challenging academic standards. These funds are used for support staff such as a Resource Teacher and Community Aide, instructional materials, and academic programs.
