Mindset
Becoming is Better than Being
Teacher's Choice in the Classroom
Choice, as defined by Merriam-Webster, means: the opportunity or power to choose between two or more possibilities: the opportunity or power to make a decision. Each day as educators, we have the choice to decide the type of mindset we will bring to our classrooms. We have the choice to inspire, encourage, and anticipate learning into children's lives. This choice lies in the decision to pick between the fixed or growth mindset.

Student's Choice in the Classroom
One way I have applied a growth mindset in my classroom is by allowing my students options and choices in the classroom. Previous to mindset, I had a seating chart for the rug and believed in students being told where to sit in the classroom. However, after reading an article about allowing students to choose their spot in the classroom when I learning, I decided to apply this idea to my own classroom. Carol Dweck's growth mindset helped me to free up my mind and take a chance and trust that my students would be responsible and take charge of their learning by choosing where they would like to sit on the rug during classroom discussions and lessons.
